Walking Breaks
at The Riverside

We have quite spectacular walking terrain in North Herefordshire – at The Riverside Inn we have developed 12 very varied circular walks ranging from 3 to 15 miles.

Between them they pass or cross over a glacial gorge, a bronze age burial site, an iron age fort and a murder site in the woods.

We are also at the mid-point of the Mortimer Trail – a 30 mile walk stretching from Ludlow to Kington for which we have a dinner, bed, breakfast and transport package. This walk takes you over a succession of hills and ridges and rewards you with views of the forests of Radnor, the Black mountains, Clee Hill and the imposing Malvern Hills.

We have step by step guides as well as many OS maps for our guests if needed. We regularly cater for walking parties, both residential and day visitors, just let us know you are coming.

Dogs are always welcome at The Riverside – they can join you in the bar and are also welcome in the bedrooms (£10 charge per night).  If they are wet and muddy from your walk, then please ask for a dog towel and maybe a biscuit from the barrel on the bar!

Dinner, bed & breakfast rates (two people sharing)

We have a fabulous selection of walking books, maps and local information for you to borrow during your stay with us.  We will also be posting details of local events that may be of interest – so do keep checking our website!

Lovely location. We've been here a couple of times and the menu is very good. I had the beetroot salad and it is delicious and the service is quick too!

It's great to see somewhere so committed to using local produce, but most importantly making it so good to eat - we could happily have ordered every option on the menu!

The menu was inventive without being outré and each course was a delight with well thought out and interesting flavour combinations making beautifully balanced dishes.
